HENRI ROUSSEAU - Archaic candour
An important sequence of works by French painter Henri Rousseau (Laval, 1844 - Paris 1910) famed for his dreamy atmospheres, his forest, enchanted landscapes. The venetian exhibition intends to be a critical historiography research on the painter, who was a reference figure for the players of artistic, historic and intellectual avantgardes of early 20th cent. movements ( the showcase presents works from Cezanne to Gauguin, from Marc to Klee, from Morandi to Carrà, from Frida Kahlo to Diego Rivera, from Kandinsky to Picasso).
Henri Rousseau becomes an ideal watershed between the 19th and 20th centuries.
