Take a course in soutache, the ancient art of trimming all kinds of materials, from wood to murano glass beads, with colourful yarns and fabrics
Hotel Bel Sito in Venice offers the opportunity to take a course in Soutache, the art of trimming with coloured yarns to create limitless objects in a thousand colours. The technique uses a wide range of materials including shells, wood, mother-of-pearl and gemstones, but above all, beads made by the master glassmakers of Murano. Curves and patterns create necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets and chokers.
You'll learn how to make Soutache jewellery, which you can keep at the end of the 2-hour session. You'll need a certain dexterity in the use of needle and thread, needed to sew the beads onto the fabrics.
