Charm
July 9 2025
From 2 to 13 July 2025 the “drawing-room of the world” lights up with five evenings that bring visionary electronica, pop-opera, legendary rock, open-air lyric drama and masterful piano to the heart of the lagoon. St Mark’s Square is less than a three-minute stroll from Hotel Bel Sito: step out of reception and, in just a few steps, you’ll find yourself in front of the stage—no crowded vaporetti or late-night taxis required.
3 July – Jean-Michel Jarre The electronic-music pioneer will turn the square into a multi-sensory set with giant screens, laser beams and immersive sound design. This Venetian show—one of only two Italian dates—comes in partnership with Veneto Jazz and the City of Venice: expect a journey through classics such as Oxygène and Chronologie plus brand-new experimental suites fusing art, technology and environmental awareness.
5 July – Casanova OperaPop Red Canzian’s musical blockbuster “comes home” with 23 performers, 35 musical numbers and 120 costumes, recreating 18th-century Venice inside a digital set built from 2020 images of an empty city. Two hours of music, political intrigue and overwhelming passion in which Giacomo Casanova’s story meets spectacular choreography and a live pop-symphonic score.
7 July – Patti Smith The “High Priestess of Rock” plays her only Italian summer date, presented by the Festival della Bellezza. Together with her band, the poet of Horses revisits fifty years of career—from Because the Night to People Have the Power—weaving stories, beat poetry and an energy that has fired generations of fans.
12 July – Teatro La Fenice: Cavalleria Rusticana Orchestra and Chorus of Venice’s famed opera house bring Mascagni where melodrama meets the open sky. Ninety uninterrupted minutes in which soloists led by Oksana Dyka and Mikheil Sheshaberidze ignite the passion of Santuzza and Turiddu, wrapped in the night-time grandeur of St Mark’s.
13 July – Ludovico Einaudi In the final leg of his “The Summer Portraits” tour, the Turin-born composer offers his minimalist melodies to the square’s reverberation: piano, strings and subtle electronic touches paint soundscapes ranging from Una Mattina to brand-new suites written for the Venetian summer. Show starts 9 p.m., tickets from € 69.
