The 69th International Festival of Contemporary Music will take place from October 11 to 25, 2025, under the direction of Caterina Barbieri. The program will feature numerous daily events with international soloists and ensembles, as well as the Biennale College Musica activities, dedicated to new projects selected through an open call, which become an integral part of the Festival’s program.
Caterina Barbieri (1990) is a musician and composer based in Berlin. She graduated in classical guitar and electroacoustic composition – as well as in Modern Literature – in Bologna, and pursued studies at the Royal College of Music and at Elektronmusikstudion in Stockholm. She has taken part in some of the most important music festivals worldwide.
LSD Centre (La Stella Dentro Centre) is a space dedicated to deep listening, encounter, and exchange, reflecting the principles of the Festival. Located inside the Sale d’Armi at the Arsenale, the LSD Centre will host not only installations but also a program with contributions from the Festival’s participating artists, punctuated by live performances, listening sessions, and talks.
STAR CHAMBER is a dream within a dream: a mystical musical journey to an island in the Venetian lagoon, shrouded in mystery. Using the island as a stage, this multi-artist work explores sound, space, and perception through a series of site-specific sound and performance interventions. The audience is guided through musical epiphanies that celebrate the island’s unique architecture and atmosphere, inviting them to immerse fully in ephemeral, site-responsive acts.
